If you’ve stumbled across Voltessa and want to know what the fuss is about, here’s the short version: she’s Frankenstein’s greatest creation, she’s stronger than any man, and she’s completely impossible to control. The longer version is why collectors and horror comic fans are paying attention to Bleeding Pulp.
The Character
Voltessa is the protagonist of The Electrifying Voltessa — a 32-page gothic horror pulp comic written by Justin Gray with art by Antonio Brandao. Born from forbidden science deep inside Castle Frankenstein, she wakes up with the strength of a monster, the hunger of something ancient, and zero interest in being anyone’s creation. The story is adults-only (18+), unashamedly pulpy, and draws from classic horror comics, Hammer Horror, Heavy Metal magazine, and 1970s supernatural exploitation cinema.
The Series
Voltessa isn’t a one-off. The series continues with Voltessa: Masquerade of the Macabre — a new self-contained gothic horror adventure that expands the world into masquerade balls, occult terror, and supernatural mayhem that mainstream publishers won’t touch. Each issue is complete in itself, so you can start anywhere.
Why Collectors Are Watching
Every Voltessa issue is published with a small number of limited variant covers by artists including Lena Dai, Rod Dos Santos, NaughtyAzima, and ArtOfYash. These are true limited editions — Kickstarter overprints with hard print run caps, never reprinted once they sell out. Several covers are already down to their last 1–2 copies.
Where to Start
New to Bleeding Pulp? Browse the Voltessa series page for print variants, or grab the digital edition if you want to read before you collect. Bleeding Pulp also publishes Blue Geisha, Lady Redbeard, and I Eat Monsters — each with its own distinct horror aesthetic.
